My Dad, Walter Mylett, sailed on the Sea Cloud in the 40's...I still have his uniform and pictures of him and the crew back then. He has some wonderful memories of those times. I just ordered him up a cap from the boutique for a Father's Day present.

Hello there old SEA CLOUD friends!

It’s been years now since I sailed on SEA CLOUD as 3rd Mate back in 1985 in the Med and then again in 1987 for the west bound Pacific crossing Panama to Australia. Lindblad maybe lost money on that year’s cruise - but that was truly a great unforgettable voyage!

I am still working at sea on a US merchant ship, working with a joint venture between Maersk Lines and Hoegh Autoliners carrying cargo from the US to the Persian Gulf. This is not as glamorous as a beautiful sailing ship, but it has been a good career.

Tom Mcguire is onboard our company’s sister ship, and I had diner with he and Vera while in Antwerp last summer. Tom, Vera, and I have been good friends ever since we sailed on SEA CLOUD together, and it was wonderful to see them both again – they are doing great.

I would like to get back onboard SEA CLOUD before she ends her passenger service life. Does anyone reading this know what date that will be and what her future career will be?

There are many fond memories of my SEA CLOUD experience and of the truly special people that I meet while onboard. For those of you onboard during my time - Thank you all to contributing to those memories. I have lost contact with most of my friends from SEA CLOUD, Capt Cassidy was a teacher of mine at Mass Maritime so many years ago and I still try to stay in touch with Capt Red and Frances Shannon.

I travel a lot, but I try to be on Martha’s Vineyard during the summers and then in San Francisco in winters, but lately I have been testing the waters of Puerto Vallarta Mexico – so far so good. Drop me an email (marthas@vineyard.net) if you are inclined, it’s always nice to hear from friends.

Take care,
Richard

Hi there, Anne-Marie,

Nice job with the web site! We all look so young in these photos! What happened?!?

There are still plenty of the old gang on board, believe it or not. When the ship turned 75 in April 2006, there were eleven on the crew who had been twenty years or more...

Congratulations to the relaunch, what a great site!!! ( the longer I look through the pictures, it will make me leave wife and children and run away to the next big harbour...)

Yes the air is a lot cleaner and fresher out on the seas. From the deck at the hotel I am staying at I can see the french alps and when the sun sets its not a bad sight, mornings are cool, and freezing, too as you can see the peaks covered in snow!!!
Gaff rigged or square?

Yup...still in contact, caught up with him not so long ago in Arnhem, but at the moment a little less, as I said he is in the trenches playing soldier over in Iraq.
But if you send me an email through the Message in a bottle link here to your left, I'll send you his email address.

Only contact I have is a phone call every now and than with Joe Hulm, had some contact with Mario, but lost his email address due to a computer crash, and the recovered email address doesn't work any more.

And funny enough, Max always seem to find me when ever I start a new website about the Sea Cloud... :)

As for myself, I'm back in the Netherlands, working as an police officer and secretly hoping I can go back roaming the seven seas and stare in to those beautiful unforgettable sunsets....sigh.
But for fun I do sail as crew member every now and then on the dutch sailing ships over here.

Are you still in contact with the bugger. Last time I had anysort of contact was when he was in Australia, but then I have not allowed the time to write letters to all, lazy or too busy working!!!
What are you up to; where are you now; are you in touch with any of the other crew from the early 90's???
At the moment I am hold up in a hotel, one of many, looking after a 67 foot yacht which is going through a major refit in Lavanga Italy. I hope to get the boat back into the water mid Feb early March. Then in time for the Rolex cup in Sardinia, sunshine!!!!
So much has happened and so much time has passed that it's like the begining of a new era. Sea cloud is different now, but then I am sure if I had remained on her and gone through the changes and years she would be the same; new crew to chase, passengers to usher around, no thanks!!!

Mick is indeed "the General".
Still alive and kicking, over in the trenches of a war right now, doing what ever soldiers do.

I haven't seen the Cloud since last time I visited her in Venice, very curious how she looks like now. Heard that there is another one sailing around the Sea Cloud 2....guess it can never compete with the Lady, but memories might cloud my judgement :)

Good to see you around her Robert, it has been a while.
Made me realize that I need to keep up with this blog and maintain it.

Scandalous! (me that is)
